On June 28, 2024, the South African Revenue Service announced an increase in the tariff rate for solar panels classified under customs code 8541.43, raising it from 0% to an ad valorem rate of 10%.

Tariff Exemption Areas: Countries from the EU/UK (European Union/United Kingdom), EFTA (European Free Trade Association), SADC (Southern African Development Community), MERCOSUR (Southern Common Market), and AfCFTA (African Continental Free Trade Area) will still be eligible for tariff exemptions.
